michelle lewin interview
What inspired you to pursue a career in Fitness?
I never planned a career in fitness. It just happened. In the very beginning of my relationship with my husband, we were living in Italy, where he was working. I had nothing to do really, and since he was very interested in working out, I joined him and had him train me. It was awesome to see the progress, so I went to the gym even when he was working. I was stuck. I found something that I really loved to do. And I haven’t stopped since. After some time, the photographers that used to shoot my fashion pics started pushing me to compete. I started and that kept me in shape all year round, which was a huge bonus. Then, all of a sudden, my social media skyrocketed. In 2014, I understood I had to make that my priority.
What’s an average day like for a professional athlete of your calibre?
There are not many average days anymore, but ok, this is how it can look: I wake up, have my pure protein/fat breakfast, go to the gym for an hour, eat again and shower, business meetings, social media check, a second round to the gym to do some cardio or get filmed for Instagram. Dinner, relax with an episode of Velvet and the day is gone.
To young athletes aspiring to develop a physique such as yours, what’s the best piece of advice you can give them? You will always find people that wanna push you down, but only surround yourself with people that will lift you up. The more successful you get, the more haters you will have. That’s a part of the game.
Concerning workouts and dieting, get help. You will save months in getting professional help in the beginning. It might cost a bit, but it’s well worth it.
What’s your most significant accomplishment so far in this industry?
When Will Smith came up to me at a party, asked for a selfie and said his wife Jada does all my exercises.
If you could go back in time and start you career again, knowing what you know today, what would you change? think I was a bit over sexy in the beginning, and that scared my female fans away. I would hold more back, numbers are not so interesting, the individual follower is.
If you could choose only one exercise, which would it be? Lunges. They are so complete.
You do a lot of interviews, but what question would you like to ask your fans?
What is it that you see in me? Why me? I never understood why I was the chosen one to get all this success.
What are your future goals? To expand my own supplements brand BASE and to get the Lewin Fitness Platform equipment for home exercises to Europe. I am also involved in the making of a Diet App that will help everyone to eat correctly. In projects like that, it takes time to deliver quality, but soon it will be launched. Then I have a few more brands I will start, but I can’t say too much now. You will see, I promise.
